Former NY Mets Player Ed Kranepool Needs Your Help!

Edward Emil Kranepool, born November 8, 1944, is anAmericanformer professionalbaseballplayer. He spent his entireMajor League Baseballcareer for theNew York Mets. He was predominantly afirst baseman, but he also played in theoutfield. Born to aJewishfamily in theBronx, New York, Kranepool attendedJames Monroe High School, where he began playing baseball and basketball. Mets'scoutsigned Kranepool in1962at the age of 17 as an amateurfree agent. Ed was part of the 1969 Miracle Mets, who won the team's first World Series.Now, after his long historic season, Kranepool needs a medical miracle. Kranepool has lived with diabetes for much of his life —  which has led to the amputation of all the five toes on his left foot after suffering for 15 months of bone infection and left him awaiting a kidney transplant. 

His kidneys are functioning at 20 percent and he’s on the waiting list for a new kidney. Ed encourages everyone to be listed as an organ donor on their drivers’ license.
